Most organisations arrive at the same place: every team has picked its own model, its own provider and its own API key, and nobody can say what any of it costs or what has been sent outside the building. route_33 is an AI gateway built inside The Cronos Group that puts one governed door in front of all of it.
One endpoint, every model
A single OpenAI-compatible endpoint fronts OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Mistral and open models, alongside the native OpenAI, Anthropic and Gemini APIs. The router picks the cheapest lane serving the model you asked for and fails over automatically when one rate-limits or goes down, so applications do not carry their own retry and fallback glue.
Governance at the gateway, not in every service
Token budgets are set per team, project or key and enforced at the edge: when spend hits the cap the request stops. PII and secrets are detected and masked before a request reaches a third party. Every prompt, completion and cost lands in an immutable audit trail that exports to SIEM. Change a policy once and it applies across the organisation without an application rewrite.
Built for the EU
Traffic can be routed exclusively through EU-hosted data centres, with a Belgian contract, invoice and support line. That is the starting point for a gateway a legal team can review, not only one an engineering team likes. Compliance and certification details are set out on route33.ai.
Where it is now
In beta, rolling out across the Cronos network first: the teams, partner companies and customers already building AI products inside the ecosystem, on one contract and shared governance.
